Messiah
Handel wrote Messiah in the summer of 1741 and finished the whole oratorio in a matter of weeks. It premiered in Dublin the following April as a benefit for charity, and it has not left the repertoire since. We play selections, and you sing the choruses.
The audience is the chorus
The orchestra plays, soloists take the arias, and everyone in the room joins in on the choruses. There is no audition and no rehearsal. Sing the parts you know, listen to the rest, and stay for the Hallelujah Chorus.

A chamber group from the orchestra performed a benefit of Ukrainian music alongside violinist Solomiya Ivakhiv, raising funds through the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America for a family displaced by the war in Ukraine.
Our annual tradition returned to South Salem for a second year. Guest conductor Richard Slade and his ensemble of singers joined us for an afternoon of Handel, Mendelssohn, and Humperdinck's Hansel and Gretel.
An afternoon of music and imagination, pairing classics with the cartoons that made them famous, and the U.S. premiere of Thomas Gregory's The Anxious Dragon, narrated by Eileen Oddo of Musical Munchkins.
