Our Mission

The New Westchester Symphony Orchestra (NewWSO) is dedicated to offering amateur instrumental musicians in and around Westchester County an opportunity to build musicianship in a supportive, noncompetitive setting while practicing and performing significant orchestral and ensemble works.

Our Vision

Our vision is to create a vibrant and inclusive musical community where musicians of all backgrounds and skill levels can come together to share their passion for classical music. Through engaging performances, educational outreach, and a commitment to artistic excellence, we aim to inspire a love of orchestral music across Westchester County and beyond. We strive to make classical music accessible to all while fostering a sense of community and collaboration among our members and audiences alike.

Our History

Founded in 2011, the NewWSO is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to making symphonic music an integral part of community life for players and concert-goers of all ages and backgrounds. What began as a small ensemble has flourished into a vibrant community orchestra. Renowned for its diverse repertoire and innovative programming, NewWSO continues to enrich the cultural landscape with inclusive, high-quality performances accessible to all.

Our Community

The NewWSO is a non-audition community orchestra that brings together musicians from diverse musical training and backgrounds. Whether renewing a passion for music or with moderate to advanced skills, we welcome all. Radical inclusivity is central to our mission, creating a space for musicians of all levels to share their love for orchestral music.

Our Repertoire

At NewWSO, we play a diverse repertoire that includes works from the classical, romantic, and contemporary periods. We are committed to showcasing both well-known masterpieces and lesser-known works that deserve greater recognition. You can find more information about our current repertoire on the Member Hub page.

Our Concerts

We perform three concerts a season, usually in the fall, winter, and spring, plus holiday and community events across Westchester. Concerts are free and open to the public, with a suggested donation at the door, and most stream live on our YouTube channel.
